The beach stretched endlessly, a ribbon of golden sand meeting the sparkling blue horizon. The waves rolled in gently, their foamy edges kissing the shore before retreating with a soft hiss. A salty breeze carried the scent of the ocean, mingling with the distant laughter of children building sandcastles. Seagulls circled overhead, their cries echoing across the vast, sunlit expanse.

jelani test description update What is Lorem Ipsum?
Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Why do we use it?
It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

Where does it come from?
Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..”, comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

The standard chunk of Lorem Ipsum used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions from the 1914 translation by H. Rackham.

Where can I get some?
There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don’t look even slightly believable. If you are going to use a passage of Lorem Ipsum, you need to be sure there isn’t anything embarrassing hidden in the middle of text. All the Lorem Ipsum generators on the Internet tend to repeat predefined chunks as necessary, making this the first true generator on the Internet. It uses a dictionary of over 200 Latin words, combined with a handful of model sentence structures, to generate Lorem Ipsum which looks reasonable. The generated Lorem Ipsum is therefore always free from repetition, injected humour, or non-characteristic words etc.

A Year In Review

Indo US Chamber of Commerce of NE FL July 27, 2020

It has been an absolute honor and pride for me to lead a team of professional and talented individuals these past 12 months for the Indo-US Chamber of Commerce of NE Florida. Unlike the prior years of Indo US, we wanted to change the paradigm by getting our basics right. We have, over the last 15 years, moved away from the original intent of the organization, which is to partner and help the small and medium businesses in Jacksonville. In order to get back to the core of our business vision, we had to make quite a few changes. Quoting Socrates “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old but on building the new”.
This is exactly what we did. Indo US needed a facelift, a new branding and to be able to plant the seed for a complete transformation.Between August 2019 and January 2020, we held multiple events including our signature event – Women’s Forum, Tax Planning for Individuals and Small Business, & Pitch your Business. We had to refocus our energy for the second half of the year with more information and online sessions due to COVID-19. COVID really made us think and operate differently. We needed to ensure that our community members, partners, sponsors, and able to provide the needed service and to that effect we decided to host LIVE webinars. This was the first time Indo US used the social platform this effectively. We hosted 3 back to back online Town halls starting with a Panel of 4 board-certified doctors sharing with us the do’s and don’ts of COVID. With this successful event under our belt, we turned our focus to our school system, their way of operations in the new normal, and the impact on the everyday life of parents. Thanks to Dr. Diana Greene – Superintendent of the Duval County Public schools to join us in the LIVE Townhall and answer tons of questions from the general public. Following this was our focus back on small and medium businesses. This time we were able to bring in Congressman John Rutherford,
who helped us answer questions on impact to Small Business and government aid. This was also very well received by our community. All this would not have been possible if not for the excellent support from each of my Executive Committee Members and the Board of Directors. I would like to take this minute and thank our Board Chair, Mr. Janak Desai, for his outstanding thought leadership and support throughout the past 12 months. I also want to take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors, corporate members, and all small and medium business owners who have supported us all these years.

As the new executive committee takes on, I wish Ms. Amudha Sundaram, the President for the year 2020-21 and her team, the very best and to take the baton and continue to run the organization with the same vision that we had laid out last year. These are challenging times but this is when leaders raise up to the occasion and use the best available options/platforms to continue bringing Indo US to new heights. Before closing – quoting Robert Frost “…… the woods are lovely dark and deep, but I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep.”

Wishing you all the best of health during these tough times.
